Purse Cake

I was asked by a co-worker of mine to make a purse cake for a 9 year-old girl's birthday.  And the girl is a girly girl.  So I was super excited.  This is what I did. =)

I used a 10-inch round cake pan and cut it in half and stood it up on it's side for the purse.  Everything else is fondant, and the high heel is made with gum paste.

I wanted to make sure it was good and girly, so I made some lipstick, eye shadow and the high heel.  And I thought the daisies were a nice touch.

I was also asked to make some cupcakes to go with the cake, and I absolutely LOVED these wrappers, so I just had to use them.  They are just plain white cake topped with buttercream.

I loved doing this cake because of all the fun little accessories. And I think it's definitely girly! lol

Turtle Power

I received a request for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cake from someone I work with.  I borrowed the pan from a friend of mine at work, who also knows a thing or two about cake decorating.

The cake is chocolate and star-tipped with buttercream.  I really liked him. =]

Cupcake Surprise!

I received a request for a cake similar to one I had made before with a cupcake on top of it.  It was for a guy named Matt and he was going to have a surprise birthday party for his fiance.  I pretty much made the cake like the one I had made before, except I added a pretty bow to the front of it.

The cake is white cake covered in buttercream and MMF.  All of the accents are fondant, even the little cherry on top.

I think it was a success! =]

Somethin' Bout A Truck

So, for anyone out there that knows my boyfriend, he LOVES Ford trucks and mustangs.  So a while back, he bought me a classic car/truck cake pan.  So for his birthday, I decided to make him a cake with a blue truck on top of it.

The truck was baked in the cake pan he had bought me and covered and decorated with MMF.  The cake itself is made from scratch sponge cake filled with whipped chocolate ganache.

I had never used that cake pan before, but I think it's cute.

Shrek Cake

So, my boyfriend told his buddies at work that I made cakes.  And since I haven't had so much time lately, I didn't have time to make them one.  So I decided to make one just for fun.

For some reason, all of the guys that work at this place have nicknames for each other.  And somehow or another, my boyfriend ended up with the nickname Shrek.

So to make it super funny, I made a Shrek cake. lol

I kept it simple, but I wanted to make sure everyone knew what it was.  I think it turned out nice. Haha.

And then, one of the guys my boyfriend works with took a picture of him holding the cake.  And I love this picture. haha

Haha.  So maybe now they'll believe that I really do make cakes every now and then. :P

Flower Cupcakes

I decided to make some cute cupcakes for Janis at work for her birthday.  And since most people like purple, I made some purple flower cupcakes.

These are pound cake cupcakes topped with buttercream.  I thought the purple looked nice with the black wrapper, as well. ;)

Tangled Cake

So, a girl I work with asked me to make a Rapunzel/Tangled themed cake.  And I would like to start by saying this is probably my favorite cake I've made so far.

The cake is for a little girl named Lyla and she wanted purple's and pink's on the cake.  So, I was supplied the people/horse figurines and I was sent several different pictures of what she liked.  When I put them all together, this is what it looked like.

The entire cake is white cake decorated with buttercream and fondant.  I made the tower with styrofoam and decorated it with fondant.  It was placed in the cake with royal icing to help hold it in place.

The bottom of the cake was made to look like the back of Rapunzel's dress and I added a design on the top layer to also look like the pattern of the dress.

I loved this cake and almost didn't want to give it away.  :P

Zebra Baby Shower Cake

I was asked to make a baby shower sheet cake with zebra stripes.  The colors needed to be brown and blue for a baby boy named Brody.  This is what I came up with.

The sheet cake is half white/half chocolate cake decorated in buttercream.  All of the other accents are fondant.

I think it's very unique and too cute!

Birthday Cupcakes

My boyfriend's mom had a birthday on December 2nd, so I made her some pretty cupcakes.  I really liked the way the purple and green looked on the graduation cake I made, and I had some really pretty cupcake liners I bought at Walmart that looked like flowers and they were purple and green! lol

These are just vanilla cupcakes topped with buttercream.  I think they turned out way cute, though!  So, she got a whole batch of these!

Graduation Cake

I work with a lady named Donna and she wanted me to make a cake for her future daughter-in-law who just graduated with her master's degree.  She asked me to use green and purple and make it pretty.

So here's what I came up with.

I made pound cake from scratch and it turned out great.  I filled the top with chocolate ganache. She asked for some strawberry filling so the bottom is filled with a white chocolate ganache/strawberry blend.  It was tasty... lol

The accents on top are made of rice crispie treats and covered in fondant.

The cake is covered and decorated with buttercream.  I used some press patterns for the designs on the side and did a rope around the borders of the cake.

One of my favorites of the year, for sure!

Baby Shower Booties

So, I LOVE making the gumpaste booties, and a woman I work with asked me to make a plain sheet cake and 24 cupcakes for a baby shower.  No particular style, just use pinks and blues.  So this is what I came up with.

I kept if very simple and just made some jumbo bows to go on the booties.  I thought they turned out very cute!

So I made two different types of cupcakes.  This first set is chocolate filled with white chocolate ganache and topped with buttercream. And some blue sprinkles on top.

Then, I made some plain vanilla cupcakes filled with milk chocolate ganache and topped with buttercream.  I added some more pink to these.

I think Pam really liked all of it and I think it all turned out pretty snazzy. ;)
